With the return of Art Central to Hong Kong’s iconic harbourfront in 2024, we are thrilled to present the solo exhibition by Yipang. Entitled a ‘A way of seeing’ this unique show invites the audience to step into an alternate dimension. Here, their customary view of the world is poised for confrontation. Mirrored reflections, for instance, serve to unveil the deeper significance embodied in each piece. This innovative form of perception encourages a broadening of the mind, prompting introspection on social, cultural, and political issues that are often overlooked.

Yipang was born in Hong Kong in 1957, she is a Chinese contemporary artist. She holds an MA in History of Art from SOAS, University of London and an MA in Fine and Decorative Arts from Sotheby’s Institute in London. Her work is informed by her training as an art historian and offers a critical perspective on social, political, and cultural issues, challenging the viewer with her evocative calligraphic expressions. Using ink and brush on paper, Yipang sees her

choice of medium as a symbol of Chineseness. Her work invariably raises questions by transgressing the boundaries between the East and the West. Her participation in the Ink Global 2017, Affordable Art Fair and Studioray Joint Exhibition in 2021 brought her to the forefront of Hong Kong’s contemporary art scene. Her works are being collected locally and overseas. This solo exhibition being listed in ART CENTRAL is a testament to the outstanding artistic thinking and creative works of the Yipang, as it highlights the numerous international recognitions she have received.
